What Do I Do When I Find Bed Bugs at Disney World?
The first step is make sure you and your family are safe. If anyone is experiencing a severe allergic reaction, seek medical attention. Once everyone is safe, be sure to preserve evidence for your claim. Photograph and video any bed bugs you find, and take photographs of any bites or swelling. This evidence allows you to make a strong claim based on the room being infested and the injuries you suffered as a result. Notify the front desk of the infestation, ask to create an Incident Report, and request a room change. Precautions must be taken in case the infestation spread to luggage and clothing in the room. Often times you can ask management to provide a credit to a gift shop to buy clothes if you suspect your luggage has been compromised.
It can sometimes take several days to realize you were exposed to a bed bug infestation. Bites can either appear overnight, or take several days to appear. Bed bug bites are usually red marks that often have intense itching. If bites start to appear, inspect your room, if you are still there. If you have left, call the hotel and inform them that you suspect you were bitten by something in the room, and ask them to have it inspected by a professional, and to provide you with the result of the inspection.
