WHAT ARE BED BUGS?

Bed Bugs are small creatures that are difficult to spot. They are so small that they are able to fit under a dime. They have a reddish-brown color with flat bodies that are round. Often people confuse them with fleas, but there is a key difference in their movement. Fleas are able to jump long distances while bed bugs can only crawl from their nest to their victim.

These creatures tend to come out at night when their victims are sleeping. The bed bugs will crawl to an exposed portion of your skin and bite down. The victim usually does not feel the bite because the bed bugs secrete an anticoagulant in their venom. Their bites usually come in a line or zigzag pattern. When they are done feeding, they become engorged and retreat back to their nests. Victims of bed bugs often think at first they have bitten by a mosquito, until the bites continue to appear night after night.

DO BED BUGS CAUSE INJURIES?

Often times, many people are unaware of the serious damage that bed bugs can cause to victims. Bed bugs are small, parasitic insects that feed on human blood which can cause a number of adverse effects to the victims, including:

  • Permanent Scarring
  • Allergic Reactions
  • Severe skin rashes
  • Mental anguish
  • Psychological distress and damages

These damages can be extremely dangerous. Not only can the damage have various physical repercussions, which can range in severity, but injuries can manifest in a psychological form as well. For victims who experience this type of pain and suffering, the effects can be debilitating. Many victims report having insomnia, fear, anxiety, and other psychological conditions that greatly impact much of their personal well-being.
