Lawyer for Bed Bugs in Maryland
Hi, this is Dan Whitney with the Whitney Law Firm in Towson Maryland. If you found this video, it’s probably because you are looking for a lawyer for bed bugs in Maryland. Well, if so, you are in luck. I’m a lawyer, and I handle bed bug cases. I’ve handled bed bug cases for about 10 years, and we’ve recovered over $13 million against hotels, apartments, furniture companies, vacation rentals, and other businesses that end up dealing with bedbug infestations.
Three Types of Bed Bug Cases – Apartment, Hotel and Furniture
So there are typically three types of bed bug cases that people come to me with cases about. First it’s hotels. In hotel cases it almost always is somebody checks into a hotel, they wake up either the first night, or maybe the second, third, or even fourth or fifth, they wake up and they find spots on their bodies, maybe bugs on their bodies. They look in the bed, and they come to find that there are in fact bed bugs in their bed and in their hotel room. And of course when that happens, they are entitled to compensation if the hotel knew or should have known about the infestation.
The second type of case that I deal with very often is the apartment infestation. Those occur one of two ways, usually someone moves into an apartment and they discover bed bugs and begin getting bitten right away, or they’ve lived there for a while and an infestation will spread into their apartment from one of the adjacent units. And often it is because the landlord did not take the appropriate measures when the infestation was in the adjacent units. They’re supposed to inspect the adjacent units and treat if necessary, but landlords often do not do that because it’s expensive, and of course they want to save their money. Or they’re just bad landlords and they don’t care about the tenants, which happens a lot, especially in Maryland.
And the third type of case of the typical three cases is furniture rentals, or furniture purchases, whether it’s rent to own, or buying supposed to be new furniture, such as mattresses, people often, or at least sometimes, get that furniture, it turns out it’s infested, and the infestation of course gets in the house, then it spreads and it gets worse, and people in the home get bitten. And of course, companies that sell or rent furniture need to make sure that their furniture that they’re selling is not infested.
So in a nutshell, those are the three main types of bedbug cases. As a lawyer for bed bugs and for bedbug claims, I’m familiar with all of these.
